The Projects of the Welcome Design Workshop 2024: Sustainable Design Exhibition

From Workshop to Exhibition: Sustainable Design and Creativity on Display

An exciting dialogue between the creativity of young designers and the experience of Formest collaborators: on October 23, the exhibition of projects created by students from the University Iuav of Venice during the Welcome Design Workshop 2024 was held at the company headquarters.

Led by LucidiPevere with the support of Maria Manfroni, the design workshop supported by Formest in September – with the ironic title “The Metal that Lived Twice” – developed innovative ideas to give a second life to the sheet metal worked internally at the company. The goal of the training experience was to reuse the scraps from the production processes and transform them into objects and accessories for inclusion in the new Magnetica brand collection, following the principles of sustainable design.

After the exhibition organized at the Iuav headquarters in Venice at the end of the intensive workshop week, the participants had the opportunity to present their projects again, this time in front of the entire Formest team and other invited guests from the company’s network.

After the introduction by Paolo Lucidi and Luca Pevere, who described the teaching approach to the brief and the working method in the classroom, the students explained in detail the inspiration and development phases that led them to design products aimed at furnishing outdoor home spaces and accompanying moments of outdoor domestic life.

All eight proposals also had to meet specific parameters (dimensions, size, production process) and adhere to precise requirements (self-assembly, shipping, disassembly).

The presentation involved Formest collaborators, who not only listened attentively to each presentation but also actively participated in observing and commenting on the projects thanks to their expertise.

This led to an open and constructive exchange, where the company’s team offered practical advice to improve ideas and useful suggestions to optimize them from a production perspective.
The exhibition thus turned into a surprising encounter between university and workshop, where sustainability was interpreted from different viewpoints to give rise to highly experimental collaborations that also aimed at producing tangible results.
